POMSnet equipment status is not analytical-instrument readiness
POMS documents equipment management within its POMSnet Aquila pharmaceutical manufacturing-execution system. A displayed equipment status can support manufacturing execution, but analytical-instrument readiness still depends on the correct instrument identity, qualification, calibration, maintenance, method, software, access, system-suitability, exception, and laboratory approval records.

Identify which equipment state the MES is displaying
POMS's official page supports the narrow statement that POMSnet Aquila includes equipment-management functions inside a broader manufacturing-execution system. The direct laboratory answer is that an MES equipment status is evidence of a named system's record at a named time. It is not, by itself, evidence that a specific analytical instrument is qualified, calibrated, maintained, configured for the method, connected to the correct data system, and ready for an authorized test.
Retain the facility, laboratory, room, instrument and component identity, manufacturer, model, serial number, software and firmware versions, configuration, qualification state and protocol, calibration method and due date, maintenance state, standard and reagent dependencies, column or consumable identity, access role, method and version, sequence, data path, time source, environmental condition, open deviation, and accountable release decision. Where MES and laboratory identifiers differ, preserve the approved crosswalk and effective date.
Keep manufacturing availability and analytical readiness separate
Manufacturing equipment allocation can answer whether a resource is available within an execution workflow. Analytical readiness can depend on a different system of record and a different decision chain. An instrument may be operational but unavailable for a regulated method, within calibration but under investigation, qualified for one use but not another, connected but missing required audit-trail review, or technically ready while the analyst, standard, sample, or method is not.
The integration should distinguish available, reserved, in use, cleaning, maintenance, calibration due, out of service, restricted, under investigation, qualified, method-ready, sequence-ready, tested, reviewed, and released states. It should identify which system and role authoritatively sets each state, how conflicts are handled, and what blocks execution. A green status copied from another system must not hide stale data or an unresolved exception.
Reconcile instrument, method, sample, and result evidence
A representative test record should connect the approved specification and method to the sample identity and custody, analyst authorization, instrument and configuration, standards and reagents, preparation, sequence, raw data, metadata, calculations, audit trail, system-suitability assessment, deviation or out-of-specification process, review, approval, and result transferred to the manufacturing record. The transfer should preserve source identifiers and prevent a later status from erasing earlier evidence.
A buyer demonstration should include an expired calibration, changed method, instrument replacement, software update, failed suitability, interrupted sequence, re-injection, manual integration, sample mismatch, open deviation, late result, corrected result, interface outage, and duplicate transfer. Reviewers should see where POMSnet begins and ends, what another laboratory system owns, what blocks manufacturing execution, and how every override is authorized and retained.
Use the recovered source without widening the claim
The POMS product page was the exact selected source that failed the August 27 release gate, causing the earlier, different batch-record article to be removed. On August 28 the same exact URL returned HTTP 200 in the full registered-source check and in a separate three-attempt selected-source evaluation. That recovery makes today's source eligible; it does not revive yesterday's title, slug, decision boundary, or unpublished article.
Lab Systems Index also reviewed 21 CFR 211.194 and FDA data-integrity guidance for adjacent laboratory-record context. Those authorities do not certify POMSnet or establish a customer configuration. Buyers should verify product and package scope, instrument and lab-system integrations, identity mapping, status ownership, timestamps, audit trails, access, exceptions, historical preservation, validation, export, support, and qualified quality-unit oversight.
Enterprise buyer test
Translate this change into the exact population, record type, workflow stage, decision owner, effective date, and evidence that could be affected. Ask current or prospective providers to demonstrate the named workflow with representative data and an exception—not a polished feature tour. Record what official documentation establishes, what a provider states, what the team observes, and what remains unresolved.
A defensible review also identifies the dependency outside the product. Authority interpretation, policy configuration, data quality, integrations, human judgment, approval rights, release governance, training, and retained evidence may remain customer or service responsibilities. The evaluation should preserve those boundaries instead of treating a technology claim as the complete operating model.
